Concur Travel takes a big step toward net-zero reporting
The SAP-owned provider of travel and expense management solutions is the first online booking tool to integrate emissions calculations certified to the new ISO 14083 standard
The ISO 14083 standard was created to address the confusion and inconsistency caused by the multitude of emissions calculation methodologies currently in use. ISO 14083 provides a single, globally recognized framework for calculating greenhouse gas emissions for all modes of transportation, including air, rail, road and freight.
Key takeaways
- By harmonizing methodologies, ISO 14083 provides organizations with consistent, credible data to support their regulatory efforts;
- This standard also aligns with climate initiatives such as the European Union's Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD), which will require emissions reporting from more than 50,000 companies worldwide by 2025;
- In addition, the EU's proposed Count Emissions initiative will require transportation providers to display emissions data at the point of sale. The EU's endorsement of ISO 14083 as a trusted methodology underscores the importance of adopting this standard.
