Google, Meta have high hopes for short-form video
Both companies have stated that they plan to prioritize short-form video formats' monetization during 2023
YouTube Shorts reported more than 50 billion average daily views during the fourth quarter, up from 30 billion in Q1, while Instagram Reels and Facebook got 140 billion views per day in the previous three months.
TikTok, meanwhile, has been growing by leaps and bounds according to various industry estimates, but has not divulged numbers since September 2021, when it said it had surpassed 1 billion monthly users.
