Marriott's new AI tools: How they work - and how they don't
Skift tested the new AI tools designed to assist users in searching for vacation rentals within the Homes & Villas by Marriott Bonvoy brand
The AI search feature is prominently displayed at the top of the Homes & Villas webpage, encouraging users to search for rentals using natural language based on their preferences. However, the traditional manual search option is still available.
In theory, using natural language to request specific features could greatly save time for users compared to manual searching.
A disclaimer pop-up window at the outset informs users that the tool is in an experimental stage: “Please excuse any issues as we strive to improve the home rental search experience.” And indeed, there were some issues encountered.
Despite the need for improvements, this tool provides an early look at how experts envision the future of hotel search functionality evolving.
