Oct 29, 2024

The $12 million agreement allows New Zealand-based Serko to acquire the GetThere business, including the platform itself and certain related intellectual property.

Key takeaways

  • Serko intends to continue to operate and market GetThere under its own brand;
  • GetThere is considered one of the pioneers of online corporate booking tools, having originally launched as Internet Travel Network during the early days of online travel booking in the mid-1990s;
  • Although recently labeled as "old generation" technology, Sabre has maintained its relevance by continually adding features, including New Distribution Capability (NDC) capabilities and an updated air shopping experience.
