Last weekend, Expedia Group's consumer brands around the world experienced an outage that rendered their websites inaccessible and disrupted internal operations
Expedia initially attributed the outage to maintenance issues, but later admitted that it was due to a "back-end software issue". Expedia Group stressed that technical outages are common for major brands and denied any link to layoffs.
Executives have been promoting a technology migration plan to consolidate many brands onto a single platform for more than a year. While that transition is now complete, the expected benefits have yet to materialize.
