Tripadvisor members have long been able to book experiences, discover restaurants and find activities through the app. The addition of hotel bookings further enhances user engagement by merging Tripadvisor's research capabilities with its booking capabilities to create a seamless, integrated travel planning platform.

Key takeaways

  • "Our goal is to make the Tripadvisor app an indispensable tool for our most engaged members who want to do more on our platform," said Kristen Dalton, Tripadvisor's president since January;
  • "This journey began with the launch of our AI Trip Builder earlier this year, and it continues with this latest update. The ability to book hotels directly within the app is an important milestone in the user experience," she added;
  • The in-app hotel booking feature is available exclusively to logged-in Tripadvisor members. With this new offering, Tripadvisor aims to strengthen its free membership program by exploring in-app rewards and incentives to further strengthen its relationship with its most engaged users.
